It was many many years ago that I named my little farm Simply Natural. It was before "beyond organic" "sustainable" and such became vogue and catch phrases. Being Natural seemed so easy. It was back when being alternative was not so complicated - manure/no manure, A1/A2 debate, grassfed vs pasture based, vs grain fed, soy/no soy, corn/no corn, seasonal dairying, local, dairy vs. dual purpose . . . . . It is now 17 years later and nothing I do is easy nor simple - raising children, being married, paying off debt, owning a house, finding the perfect job, figuring out what state to live in. . . it was all very easy and simple when I wasn't in the middle of it :) In fact, the title seems a bit absurd and childish - hey guys, it's so simple!!
But see, I have a really wonderful and for me sentimental farm sign my brother made for us years ago when we were first married and before life was complicated, and it makes me happy just to see it even though I'm not willing to hang it in the elements again because it was getting worn out. So Simply Natural it stays. Maybe also for me a reminder to stop complicating my life and breath and simply enjoy before this moment in time is whisked away and I turn around and go "whoa, I just got married . . . I now have a 9 year old and 5 children?? How did that happen?"
